How Much Does a Small Business Website Cost in 2026?

A small business website costs from $750 for a single landing page to about $5,000 for a 10-15 page site at our studio, and a typical local service business needs about 5 pages, $1,500-$3,000. The better question is not "what is the average?" but "which kind of site does my business actually need?" Choose the right type and you avoid paying for pages you do not need. Find the description below that sounds like your business and you have your range.

These are OxelLab's typical project ranges, not industry averages, and your quote depends on your scope. We do not quote averages for other providers because we cannot verify them.

How Much Does It Cost to Build a Small Business Website? Four Site Types

  • Landing page (one offer, one action): $750-$1,500, typically 1-2 weeks
  • Small business site (most local businesses, about 5 pages): $1,500-$3,000, typically 2-4 weeks
  • Larger site (many services or locations, 10-15 pages): $3,000-$5,000, typically 4-6 weeks
  • Online store (you sell products online, Shopify-based): $2,000-$5,000, typically 4-8 weeks

Design and build are quoted together as one fixed price once the scope is agreed, and the number does not move unless the scope moves. The current numbers are always on our pricing page. Not sure which one you are? Tell our AI assistant what your business does in a short written chat and we send a fixed quote in writing once the scope is agreed.

Which Site Does Your Business Need?

You offer one thing and want calls or bookings: a landing page

If your whole pitch fits on one scrolling page (what you do, proof, a way to contact you), a landing page is enough. It is the lowest-priced option we offer for a professional presence online while you find out what customers ask about.

You are a local service business: about 5 pages

Plumbers, salons, clinics, accountants and similar businesses usually need Home, Services, About, Contact and a gallery or reviews page. An illustrative example, not a client project: a 5-page plumber's site might need only three unique layouts (home, a service page reused for each service, contact), which can keep the quote lower.

You have many services, locations or a blog: 10-15 pages

Separate pages per service or per city give visitors a direct answer to what they searched for. This is where a larger site earns its price. Do not buy it on day one just in case; we can add pages later, and added pages are quoted as a scope change.

You sell products online: a store

Selling from the site means a product catalog, checkout, payments and shipping setup, which is why a store is priced separately at $2,000-$5,000. If you only want to show products and take inquiries, you may not need checkout at all; our post on catalog website costs covers that case.

What Moves the Price Up or Down

  • Unique page layouts, not page count. Pages that reuse a layout generally cost less than pages that each need their own design.
  • Integrations. Payments, calendars, inventory or other software add scope.
  • Custom work. Illustration, animation or brand identity add time.
  • Content readiness. Finished text and photos help keep the scope, and so the quote, clear.

What Is Usually Not in the Price

At OxelLab, hosting and domain fees, copywriting, photography and logo design are separate line items if you need them, and your written quote states what is and is not included. We are not publishing hosting or domain prices here because they depend on the provider you choose. Whoever you hire, ask the same question: what happens after launch, and what does it cost? Our written quote states what is and is not included.

Template Builder, Freelancer or Studio?

A do-it-yourself builder can be a reasonable start for a very small, simple site if you have the time to build and maintain it. A freelancer or studio makes sense when you want the site designed around your customers and built for you. We cannot give you honest market-average prices for either, so compare quotes by what they include:

  • Design and development, or design files only
  • Number of revision rounds
  • Ownership of the finished site
  • Post-launch support and what it costs

A studio like ours suits you if you want the site built for you and quoted in writing. For a deeper comparison, see WordPress vs custom development.

How to Get a Number for Your Business

Write down the pages you think you need, two or three sites you like, and any text and photos you already have. Incomplete is fine. Then scope your project in chat, a short written chat with our AI assistant. We scope in writing (chat or email, no calls needed) and send a fixed quote once the scope is agreed. A scope change means a new page, feature or integration that is not in the written quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a small business website cost?

At OxelLab, a one-page site typically costs $750-$1,500, a site of about 5 pages $1,500-$3,000, and a 10-15 page site $3,000-$5,000. A Shopify store typically costs $2,000-$5,000. These are our typical ranges, not industry averages, and the final number depends on your scope.

What kind of website does a small business actually need?

Most local service businesses need a clear site of about 5 pages: Home, Services, About, Contact and perhaps a gallery or reviews page. A single landing page can be enough if you offer one thing, and an online store is only needed if you sell products online.

Are hosting and a domain included in the price?

At OxelLab, hosting, domain fees, copywriting, photography and logo design are separate line items if you need them. Your written quote states exactly what is and is not included.

Can the price change after I agree to a quote?

Not unless the scope changes. If you add pages, features or integrations, we quote the difference before starting that work.

Do I have to talk to anyone to get a quote?

No. Scoping happens in a written chat with our AI assistant, or by email. We send a fixed quote once the scope is agreed.

How can I keep the cost down?

Start with the pages you need now, have your text and photos ready (or add copywriting as a line item), and reuse layouts across pages. Pages that reuse a layout generally cost less than pages that each need their own design.
